Train passengers near Bournemouth stranded all night as freezing weather causes travel chaos
The UK os freezing to a halt, as around 100 people were stranded all night in freezing temperatures on board a train heading to Bournemouth from Waterloo as services to the south west were crippled by the “beast from the East”.
Passengers who boarded the 17.45 service from Waterloo to Bournemouth yesterday were still stuck on the train this morning after spending the entire night trapped huddled under foil blankets on a train with no power, heating, or extra food.
Passengers on other South West Trains travelling between Bournemouth and Southampton also desperately took to social media to share their plight as Storm Emma struck on Thursday night bringing blizzards and gales.
South Western Railway said in a statement: “Due to Multiple broken down trains between Weymouth and Southampton Central all lines are blocked.
“Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. All stations between Bournemouth and Weymouth will not be served.”
